Built this firm so businesses and families get a lawyer with real litigation teeth, not just a letter-writing service.
Y. Allan Shehebar is the founder and lead counsel of Shehebar Law P.C., a Brooklyn-based practice dedicated to business law and education law for clients across New York and New Jersey.
Allan earned his Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Brooklyn College at the City University of New York. He is admitted to practice in both New York and New Jersey.
Before founding his own practice in January 2020, Allan spent years as a litigation associate at a well-regarded mid-size New York City firm handling complex civil litigation. There he developed the courtroom instincts, motion practice skills, and discovery strategy that give his business clients a decisive edge in commercial disputes.
Allan also gained in-house experience at a large e-commerce corporation, giving him firsthand understanding of commercial operations, vendor relationships, intellectual property concerns, and the legal pressures businesses face daily. That experience makes him uniquely effective counsel for entrepreneurs, startups, and growing companies.
In business law, Allan handles corporate formation, contract drafting and review, trademark registration and protection, commercial leases, operating agreements, commercial litigation, and property damage claims. He brings precision and thoroughness to every matter.
Allan also maintains an active education law practice, representing parents of children with disabilities in FAPE disputes, IEP violations, tuition and SETSS reimbursement claims, impartial hearings, disciplinary actions, and testing accommodation matters. His approach combines deep knowledge of the IDEA framework with an unrelenting litigation posture that school districts take seriously.
“Every client deserves direct access to the attorney protecting their business or their child. Not a receptionist, not a paralegal. Me.”
I started Shehebar Law because I saw the gap. Business owners get handed off to junior associates at big firms, or get cookie-cutter templates from discount legal shops. Parents of children with disabilities become file numbers at volume practices. Neither group gets the attention they deserve.
I wanted to build something different: a practice with real courtroom teeth and a personal relationship with every client. When you call this office, I answer. When your contract is on the line or your child’s case goes to hearing, I’m the one in the room.
My years handling complex civil litigation taught me how opposing counsel thinks and operates. My in-house experience at an e-commerce company taught me how businesses actually run. That combination of litigation instincts and commercial awareness is the sharpest advantage I can offer.
